Noonan Traded to Colorado

It’s official, Mitchell is reporting that Pat Noonan has been traded to Colorado for a MLS Superdraft pick and allocation money. This frees up a senior roster spot and $175,000 for the Crew to use.
The move seems odd at first glance. Noonan is cover for Schelotto and the schedule is going to get more crowded with Open Cup and Champions League games coming up. However, I think Noonan was not a good fit for Warzycha’s tactics and there were other players who could play at forward and on the wings. Noonan also did not play where the Crew desperately need depth right now, central midfield.
I think that Warzycha sees Schelotto as irreplaceable. The team changes into a traditional two forward setup when he is not in the lineup. Warzycha sees Steven Lenhart and Jason Garey as better fits for that second forward role and Noonan has not exactly distiguished himself in limited action this year.
It is also possible that the Crew are looking at some new talent in midfield or defense. The team is not as deep through the midfield and on the back line. The Crew are suddenly players on the trade and transfer market this summer. The team can sign free agents now and the transfer window opens on July 15th this year. I really wonder what players the Crew are looking at?
