Iro Fills a Need

January 18, 2008

Shawn Mitchell’s blog fills in the story on the Crew’s first round draft pick Andy Iro. Iro has already committed to playing for the Crew. He also fills a possible hole in the Crew defense.

Marcos Gonzalez is interested in returning to Chile, and coach Sigi Schmid said on Wednesday night that the Crew was waiting for a transfer offer from Catolica. However, he also said he expected that if something were to happen, it would occur “in the next 24 to 48 hours.” No word yet on that situation.

Marcos is a very solid defender. It would be a big loss to a shaky defense. The transfer fee would be a good way to replace that loss.
