The Designated Player has Landed?

January 18, 2008

It’s not MLSNet official by any stretch, but Polish international Maciej Żurawski has reportedly discussing terms with the Crew. Assistant Coach Robert Warzycha was instrumental in getting Żurawski on board with coming to Columbus.

Żurawski is currently under contract with Celtic of Scotland until the end of June. He is also the captain of the Polish national team that will be playing in the European Championship this June.

It remains to be seen if he will be transferring before his contract ends. He will be free to move in July. He would miss time for Euro2008 that is scheduled from June 7th through the 29th. This would be a tremendous pickup for this season. The Crew have lacked effective goal scoring since Jeff Cunningham was traded in the offseason three years ago.
