U-23 – Gaven Is On the Roster, Rogers Coming Home

March 9, 2008

Eddie Gaven will take part in the upcoming Olympic Qualifiers, but Robbie Rogers has been left of the final roster. This is a bit of a shock as Rogers has been in pretty good form since before the Under-20 World Cup last year. Gaven has improved in the last year, earning a Copa America call up last July, but I felt that he was more likely to get left off the final roster. Rogers is a talented left sided midfielder and now the Under-23 team lacks a true left sided presence. Gaven will probably be expected to play on the left wing. The U-23’s first game is Tuesday at 8 p.m. versus Cuba on Fox Soccer Channel.
