Crew Seeking Attacking Options

March 16, 2008

The Crew is looking to add a couple of strikers. After the last three years, I will believe it when it happens. Brian Bliss currently scouting in Honduras, looking at a couple of players. Steve Goff has confirmed that Bliss is looking at Jocimar from Motagua and Allan dos Santos of Olimpia. Both are Brazilians plying their trade in Honduras much like Emilio from D.C. has done before. Emilio and Jocimar supposedly share an agent. I had a chance to watch Jocimar last week in the CONCACAF Champions Cup, he make an impact, but did not score against a solid Pachuca team. Goff also reports the Columbus, among others, are looking at Facundo Sava; an Argentine currently playing for Racing Club.

The Crew are in dire need of scoring options. The players linked with the Crew are quality scoring options. The team has cap space to get the deal done. A goal scorer is the biggest need on the team by a wide margin. I am hoping for one or two forwards brought into the Crew attack. The team’s first game is less than two weeks away and they are relying on the same players from last year’s weak attack in addition to Niko Hernandez, a player who scored one goal last year. That will not placate the fans or allow Sigi to keep his job.
