Who is Getting a Trip to Europe?
Prompted by the Ultra’s comment concerning the upcoming U.S. friendlies, I started thinking if and when Rogers, Gaven, or Hejduk will get called in for any of the games. Luckily, I had some help with this exercise in the form of Men’s National Team Coach Bob Bradley. He always has a plan in regards to a group of games. You can see this in his Gold Cup and Copa America tournament rosters last year. The Gold Cup squad was very strong and they were there to win the tourney. Copa America was looked at as a learning experience. So looking for what Mr. Bradley had to say about the pool I found this quote:
this is an excellent opportunity to continue to evaluate our player pool and at the same time balance the workload
I think that leads me to think both Rogers and Hejduk getting called up for at least a match, perhaps the game in New York versus Argentina. I would not even be surprised to see either of them start one of the three games. Both have been in top form. Gaven may be used for depth and to gain a little exposure. The friendlies also lead up to the two game World Cup qualifier series versus Barbados in June. This will allow Mr. Bradley an opportunity to set his squad for the start of qualifying, I think Hejduk and Rogers are on the short list for regular callups coming into the summer and into the fall.
