The Weekend That Wasn’t

August 11, 2008

The Crew had the weekend off. While the team (and it’s fans) were relaxing a little, the rest of the league were making up some of their games in hand. Sadly, this meant the Crew have now dropped into third place, behind Chicago and New England. Setting the Table has the full story.

On a positive note, it looks like Gino Padula will be back this week versus Dallas, Pat Noonan is ready to play, and either Rogers or Ekpo may be coming home soon. The Crew need to play a better final third of the season than the middle third has been, but they are still in good position for the playoffs.

I was happy to see New England lose this one even if it gave Chicago 3 points. I’ll take 2 points short of first place rather than 5 points short.

This weekend I’m pulling for San Jose and DC United to down the Revs and Fire. I think the *new* San Jose can do it at home. DC is 1-6-1 on the road. Statistically they’re due some road points… I hope.
