Pregame 27: Galaxy v. Crew
After the week that was, it is good to have a game to look forward to. For two hours I won’t have to worry about the new ownership or the possibly of the team moving. The Crew can secure the Supporter’s Shield and deal the Galaxy’s playoff hopes a severe blow. It will be a packed house on a beautiful night. Oh and David Beckham and Landon Donovan will be in town.
Crew on Offense: The Crew should be able slice through a porous Galaxy defense. Robbie Rogers is probably salivating at the thought of going up against Chris Klein. Noonan, Moreno, and Gaven will have space to work with as well. If L.A. did not have enough to worry about, tonight will also mark the return of Schelotto. I cannot imagine the Galaxy defense able to handle the multi prong Crew attack. The main weapons doesn’t even include the midfield support or aerial assault our defenders can provide. The Crew should score multiple goals.
Crew on Defense: Here comes a real challenge. Landon Donovan has been in fine form this year. Edson Buddle has collected double digits in goals as well. Padula and O’Rourke will have to work to contain a still dangerous David Beckham. The midfield duo of Evans and Carroll will have to work to contain the Galaxy midfield and slow Donovan’s runs from the midfield. Iro and Marshall will be tasked with handling Buddle and Donovan who have been working pretty well together. I have a good feeling about our defense and see them really shutting down a sinking team.
Final Thoughts: If the midfield can slow the Galaxy, the Crew will coast to three points and take another step towards the supporters shield.
