ESPN Drops MLS Primetime

January 19, 2009

ESPN has decided to drop MLS from it’s primetime schedule. Apparently the ratings were horrendous as the league really could not carry it’s own timeslot. The average attendance was also 68% for these midweek games. It is sad to see ESPN pull back a little bit from their commitment, but I cannot blame them really.

ESPN will still have a game of the week, but the days will range from Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. This will make it a little harder to for the casual fan to catch a game (but those fans did not seem to tune in anyway).
