Game 10: Grades
Gruenebaum – 6: Solid for most of the night, but still had some problems with some crosses.
Zayner – 5: He is not a offensive flyer like Frankie, but he is a solid role player and one on one defender.
Brunner – 6: He lost his mark on the goal, but was solid otherwise including adding an assist.
Marshall – 7: Another good all around game as he was a black hole for the San Jose offense.
Padula – 6: Aware of his limitations, he may get beaten by faster players, but recovers well.
Ekpo – 6: He shows flashes of brilliance, like when he found Schelotto for the goal. Still trips over his dribble too often.
Carroll – 6: The ironman finally breaks down. His solid and assured presence in the middle of the field.
Gaven – 6: Suddenly finding the goal scoring form. I have hopes that this is the start of a good run of form for the streaky Gaven.
Rogers – 6: He showed the burst of speed that made him a game changer last year. That is a great sign.
Schelotto – 7: There are not many more ways to keep exclaiming his brilliance.
Moreno – 6: I am sure he would like to have a goal to help the Crew cause, but he is still tireless even if he plays on the right wing.
Lenhart – 5: He was high energy, but lacking results. Needs to control the long outlet balls better, even when he is the man on the island up there.
Burns – 6: I am sure he had a bit of nerves on the debut, but it was pretty solid. He has talent, I am interested how well he will do now that Carroll is out and he probably will get more time on the field.
Crew Man of the Match – Schelotto: He seems to bring exactly what the Crew need, this year it’s more goals.
