Rogers and Marshall Called to National Team
Robbie Rogers and Chad Marshall were called into the 24 man U.S National Team squad earlier today for the World Cup Qualifiers against El Salvador in Utah on September 5th and at Trinidad & Tobago on September 9th. Both players had a busy summer after playing extensively during the Gold Cup. Marshall was even named to the traveling squad for the US v. Mexico game earlier this month.
18 players can be named to the game day roster and I expect to see Marshall get a spot on the bench for one or both of the qualifiers. I imagine that Rogers will get a chance to practice with the rest of the US squad and have a chance to impress Bradley enough to get an invite to October’s, hopefully meaningless, qualifier against Cost Rica.
The pair will meet up with the rest of the U.S. team after the Crew game on Sunday and then return back to Columbus in time for the home game against Houston on September 13th.
