Buddle Coming; Beckham Not
There will be at least one familiar face coming to Crew Stadium on Saturday when the Galaxy come to town. No, not the 50 million dollar man. Apparently, Beckham has an Achilles injury that forced him not to travel. He could always show up late, but I doubt it. That is good news for the Crew. The front office already sold the tickets and now face a weakened Los Angeles squad.
The Galaxy however do have another offensive threat returning from injury. Edson Buddle is happy to face his former team. The Nordecke will be happy to call him a Columbus reject. I hope Edson takes it better than Kai Kamara was going to. I am not sure if Buddle has a twitter feed or what it says about the terrifying prospect of getting yelled at by the opposing team’s fans.
Buddle is now a veteran at 28 years old and scored 15 goals last year. Injury kept him off the field, but I am always fearful that “Edson Buddle Hat-Trick Day” will happen against the Crew. With no Chad Marshall, the central defense by committee of Eric Brunner, Andy Iro, and Danny O’Rourke will have to keep an eye on him.
