Crew Playoffs Bound

September 28, 2009

The Crew needed an improbable series of events to happen this weekend to make the playoffs. First the probable, the Crew needed a win. In addition to a Crew win, Toronto had to tie or lose to Chicago in Bridgeview, Real Salt Lake needed to tie or lose to Dallas, and San Jose needed to beat the United in DC.

The Crew were looking good on Saturday night as they took care of Los Angeles, Chicago came back to tie Toronto late, and Salt Lake looked listless in Dallas and got hammered. It all came down to San Jose getting a result. D.C. United came out with an opening goal, leaving only a half for San Jose to get their first road win since June 2008 (at Crew Stadium!). Well, of course they draw two back in the second half to get the win.

Just like that, the Crew make the playoffs.
